Prescott’s second weekend of action got underway on Saturday afternoon for day one of the BOC Championships meeting.
Along with the regular New Barn, Henney’s and BOC All-Comers Championships, we also welcomed the Pirelli Ferrari Hill Climb Championship to the Cheltenham venue for an exciting afternoon of action.
It was a rather cloudy and chilly morning for practice but the sun came out as the cars took to the track after lunch for the first competitive run of the day.
Sean Gould once again finished the day with the fastest time in his Gould GR59JB, matching his best time at the Reopening meeting last month of 37.48 seconds.
This was closely followed by Alex Summers, who recorded the second fastest time of the day of 37.76 seconds in his DJ Firehawk.
Cars competing in the New Barn Interclub License Championship, in the NB1 Saloons class, were up first and James Dockery was awarded first place in his Subaru STI, with a best performance on handicap. The NB2 Sports Car class was up next and Paul Rennison came out on top driving a Porsche 944 S2.
Matt Clarke earned first place in class P3 in the Henney's Cider Classic Speed Championship driving a Austin Mini. Class P4 was topped by Josh Sadler driving a Porsche RS 3.0 Rep.
Also in the Henney's Championship, in the M1 class, Phil Fisher secured first place for the second time this season in his Mallock MK11 and Mike Bainbridge claimed first in the M2 class driving his Ensign LNF3.
In the BOC All-Comers class, Mark Maynard performed the best on handicap in the B1 class, driving a Hillman Imp. Then, in the B2 class, Peter Taylor earned first place in a Mazda MX5.
The B3 class was topped by Nicholas Topliss with an impressive display, he broke the 50 second mark for the second time in his ERA R4D.
Finally, the best of the Ferraris competing in the Pirelli Ferrari Hill Climb Championship was Nick Taylor in a Ferrari 430 Coupe with a time of 49.13 seconds.
The BOC would like to thank all competitors and marshals for today's event and we look forward to another day of action tomorrow.
